The Petrified Wood Collection | Ancient Stone Basins

This is not stone that was always stone.

Millions of years ago, ancient trees fell in
volcanic forests. Over time — more time than
we can meaningfully hold in our minds —
mineral-rich groundwater replaced every
cell of wood with silica, preserving the grain,
the rings, the memory of the tree, while
transforming it completely into stone.

What you are looking at is a tree that became
a rock. A record of life so old it existed before
most of the species on earth did.

Each basin is hollowed and hand-finished
from a single piece of this ancient material.
The interior is polished to reveal the full
depth of colour and grain within. The exterior
retains its natural surface — raw, broken,
exactly as the earth left it.

Colours range from warm ambers and deep
browns through to near-black ebony.
Occasionally, and very rarely, pieces emerge
in extraordinary coral and rose tones —
the result of specific mineral combinations
that may never occur again.

No two pieces share the same weight,
dimension, colour or character.
Each one is the only one.

Pieces in this collection are priced individually
from $1,895, reflecting the size, weight and
rarity of each stone. Our coral pieces, when
available, are priced from $2,995.
